{"id":4601,"date":"2014-02-18T12:07:30","date_gmt":"2014-02-18T20:07:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/?p=4601"},"modified":"2026-04-20T09:43:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T16:43:05","slug":"now-accepting-applications-for-five-fellowship-and-funding-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/mswnews\/2014\/02\/now-accepting-applications-for-five-fellowship-and-funding-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Now Accepting Applications for Five Fellowship and Funding Opportunities!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Global Health is excited to announce <em>five <\/em>funding opportunities for travel support and fieldwork experiences for graduate and professional students, and medical residents at the University of Washington.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>George Povey Social Justice and Activism in Global Health Fellowship (new!)<\/li>\n<li>Global Opportunities in Health Fellowship<\/li>\n<li>Pulitzer International Reporting Fellowship in Global Health (new!)<\/li>\n<li>Stergachis Global Health Fellowship (new!)<\/li>\n<li>Thomas Francis, Jr. Global Health Fellowship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year we\u2019ve developed a Common Application to make it easier to apply. Students are encouraged to apply for more than one fellowship, but are only eligible to receive one award per application cycle. If a student is awarded and accepts the Fellowship, they must immediately withdraw their applications to other DGH fellowship or funded programs. Fellowship recipients must meet all program deadlines and program requirements, including attendance at a <strong>mandatory pre-departure orientation<\/strong> on <strong>Sunday, May 4, 2014<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Common eligibility criteria:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Graduate or professional students <\/strong>enrolled in a full-time University of Washington degree program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medical residents<\/strong> enrolled in a University of Washington residency program are eligible to apply for:<br \/>\n&#8211; <em>George Povey Social Justice and Activism in Global Health Fellowship<\/em><i><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Global Opportunities (GO) Health Fellowship<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211; Stergachis Global Health Fellowship.<\/em><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Good academic standing.<\/li>\n<li>Not currently receiving another DGH award or fellowship for the same time period, or for the same program or fieldwork experience.<\/li>\n<li>Medical and post-doc fellows, and undergraduates are<strong> NOT eligible<\/strong> for any of these awards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please review the criteria for each of the awards to ensure that you have submitted the proper documentation to complete the process.\u00a0 All documentation must be submitted via email to Daren Wade at <a href=\"mailto:ghrc@uw.edu\">ghrc@uw.edu<\/a> by 11:59 p.m., <strong>Friday, March 21, 2014. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Download the application.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Global Health is excited to announce five funding opportunities for travel support and fieldwork experiences for graduate and professional students, and medical residents at the University of Washington.
