\u00a0 <\/span>This would only work if you are done your practicum and can enroll for 10 credits in Spring Quarter, but if that fits you, then you may apply for this TA’ship for spring.\u00a0 <\/span>Please note that the class meets (and you would need to be available) on T and Th from 12-1:50 and the quiz sections are on Wednesdays between 10:30-2:20.\u00a0 <\/span>The Psych dept said that MSW students were fine and they have hired fee-based program students before.<\/p>\n

General Information: This is a Teaching Assistant position for PSYCH 250: Racism & Minority Groups. PSYCH 250 provides undergraduates an overview of the causes, contexts, and consequences of racism. The aim of this course is to help students critically understand the ways in which racism operates at both the interpersonal and institutional level. There is an emphasis on cultural history, political and socioeconomic structures, as well as micro-level processes. Students will examine historical and current race issues in both a U.S. and global context.<\/p>\n

\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Attend lectures and weekly meetings<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prepare and facilitate quiz section discussions<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Grade papers and exams<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prepare and maintain grade database<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prepare and maintain course webpage<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prepare overheads and materials<\/p>\n

Additional Minimum Requirements:<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>UW doctoral student enrolled full-time (10 credits\/quarter)<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Ability to work 20 hours per week<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Facility with Catalyst Workspace, Dropbox, and Gradebook<\/p>\n

Desirable Qualifications:<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Background in psychology, education, history, or other field related to the course<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prior teaching experience on issues of race and racism<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Prior teaching experience in diverse settings<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Strong communication\/facilitation skills<\/p>\n
