Colin Butler

former B.S. student (2016)

Colin joined Dr. Lundquist's Mountain Hydrology Research Group in June 2014 and is now in his fourth year in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Honors Program at the University of Washington. He is fascinated by climate analysis, weather instrumentation and snowpack modeling, and he currently manages the Snoqualmie meteorological site in addition to working on web development. Colin was awarded a Mary Gates Research scholarship at the beginning of Winter 2015 to explore an alternative method for measuring turbulent heat flux at the snow surface.

Outside of his studies and involvement in hydrology research, Colin loves to bike, backpack, and mountain climb as much as he can, but also enjoys listening to electronic music, cooking with family and friends, and participating in a variety of sports.
