Alex Boeschenstein is interested in information visualizations and technical visual languages, including exploded-view schematics, maps, floor plans, and 3D models. This drawing is based on a still image from Werner Herzog’s documentary film “Encounters at the End of the Earth” about research scientists at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Herzog followed a penguin who mysteriously left its colony to head alone into the interior. Boescheinstein’s enlargement frame humorously doesn't provide any additional detail — perhaps suggesting some limits on what is knowable.
