Paul Komada starting knitting when his son was born and he found himself spending a lot of time at home. He is known for what he calls “Knit Canvas Paintings” that interweave soft, slumping textiles with acrylic paint and wood frames. His work challenges rigid borders (between “art” and “craft”, for example) to inspire creative boundary-crossing work by others. Komada was born in Seattle, but spent most of his childhood in Yokohama, Japan.
