May 6, 2004

Thursday, May 6, 2004
7:30 PM
UW Kane Hall 120

Media scholar and former Seattle independent media publisher Robert McChesney has been a central figure in the recent media reform insurgency across the US. His books and articles on the history of US media policy, global media governance and media activism include many landmark titles, including his latest: The Problem of the Media.

McChesney's last book, Rich Media, Poor Democracy was a landmark title in the field of media criticism. He's back with another blistering look at the disappearance of real news in favor of bottom-line padding tabloid news and infotainment. He even has a few suggestions for concerned media consumers desperate for a little real information. A portion of the proceeds from this event benefits Reclaim the Media. Tickets are required and are free with purchase of this title. Additional tickets are available for $5 at all stores, while supplies last.
