Hands on UW Bio Lab Tour

Are you interested in doing research? TRIO has coordinated hands-on lab tours with UW biology research labs on-campus. During the tour you will: 

  • Get hands on experience performing a lab protocol in a science research lab 
  • Have time to ask 1 on 1 questions to scientists 
  • Get a personal lab tour

Major Peer Panel

Financial Literacy Workshop: Living on Your Own

We’ve entered TRiO Financial Literacy Month! Follow our weekly series throughout the month on Instagram. We will be sharing basic information on budgeting, credit, and savings. Stay tuned to see if you have the basics to be financially literate.

We will have an in-person workshop in MGH 171 on Thursday, 4/18 about Living On Your Own. Living on your own is one of the first steps in adulting! But what do you do when the smoke alarm goes off? Or if the toilet overflows? How often are you supposed to wash your bed sheets? And what are some easy ways you can save money day to day? Are you looking for an apartment, duplex, or housing outside of campus? What does the application process look like? How much will it cost? Do you know your tenant right? If you want a crash course on how to successfully live on your own, check out this workshop!


Gabriel E. Gallardo Grad Fair

Thinking about what you’ll do after graduating from the UW? Interested in learning more about graduate school and how it might fit in with your career goals?

Then come to the Gabriel E. Gallardo Grad School Fair, Monday, Apr. 22, 1-3 pm at the HUB North Ballroom, featuring almost 70 programs from both the UW and across the country in a wide range of disciplines!

Whether you’re interested in medical programs, business Master’s, STEM PhD or any graduate program in between, come talk with recruiters who are excited to meet with you and learn more about your interests! The GEG Grad Fair is particularly aimed at supporting students holding identities underrepresented in higher education, such as first-generation college student, low-income, or underrepresented minority backgrounds, so come to our grad fair and explore graduate school pathways in an encouraging environment alongside other students with shared backgrounds.

Research Lab Tours: Mon. 10/2

TRIO & LSAMP have coordinated lab tours with 2 science research labs on campus: 🔬
1) Nemhauser Lab – Cell Signaling and Information Processing.
This lab investigates cell signaling networks to understand how organisms process and integrate information from their surroundings to sustain life.
2) Steinbrenner Lab – Plant Immunology.
This lab investigates how activation of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) which are part of the innate immune system, helps plants combat pests and pathogens.

Join us for the tour where you can:
• Get hands on experience performing a lab protocol in each science research lab
• Interact and connect with the scientists in the lab
• Get a personal lab tour

A&O Part 3: TRIO SSS New Student Welcome 2023

For our incoming first-year students, we are excited to welcome you to UW! Every year, we host a kick off event to meet you all before the first day of the quarter with fun events and food!
