    Heffron Transportation, Inc. is seeking a part-time entry-level Transportation Technician with interest in pursuing a career in transportation planning and engineering. Details about the firm and open position are below.

    Heffron Transportation, Inc. is a small, Seattle-based transportation planning and engineering firm. Providing consulting services to public agencies and private developers since 1995, the firm has worked on some of Seattle’s largest projects. Examples of Heffron’s work include facilitating the consensus agreement for the Mercer Corridor project; planning and permitting major development projects for Amazon, Expedia, and Yesler Terrace; helping design and obtain funding agreements for the Rainier Vista project at the University of Washington; helping to design and permit most of the Port of Seattle’s cruise and marine terminals; and leading development of the Parking Mitigation Plan for the Washington State Department of Transportation’s SR 99 Viaduct Replacement project. We are currently working on several Sound Transit projects, providing transportation planning and analysis as part of the environmental review process.

    Heffron is seeking a part-time entry-level Transportation Technician with interest in pursuing a career in transportation planning and engineering. The position’s primary responsibilities include collecting and compiling data for projects located within the Puget Sound region. The technician may assist with travel demand forecasting, traffic operations analysis, traffic safety assessments, and parking demand and utilization evaluations. The number of hours worked each week will vary depending on the firm’s workload and the technician’s availability. Preferred qualifications for this position include:

    • Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
    • coursework in transportation planning and/or engineering;
    • strong written and verbal communication skills; and
    • access to a personal vehicle for field work.

    The pay rate for this position ranges from $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience.
