Internship Opportunity – WSDOT Traffic Management Center (TMC)

The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) in Shoreline is seeking freshman, sophomores, and juniors, in the University of Washington College of Engineering to join their current team of TMC Operators. We are not seeking seniors at this time unless they have plans to attend graduate school at the UW in Transportation. Pay starts at $18.00 per hour. One or Two positions are being filled now, beginning as soon as February 15th

This is a great opportunity to get professional experience on your resume and helps with your job search much more than a few more years of fast food employment.

    Some benefits of the internship:

    • TMC is an essential service and lies outside hiring freeze on most public agencies
    • Internship can last anywhere from 1-3 years. All grade levels including Freshman are encouraged to apply.
    • Significant amount of project freedom. Currently interns have wide freedom to work on projects that interest them, including roadway design plan review, signal design review, report writing, and technical excel projects.
    • Have a direct hand in Puget Sound transportation – controlling Variable Message Signs on Freeway, Ramp Meters, Coordinate with SDOT, and locating collisions on State Highways.
