    UW Concrete Canoe Team Wins Regionals; Heads to Nationals

    This past April, the UW Concrete Canoe team once again won the Regional Competition in Boise, Idaho. They will represent the Pacific Northwest at the National Concrete Canoe competition at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, in mid June. Congratulations canoers and good luck!

    Former UW Student Elected to the National Academy of Engineering

    This past February, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) elected 84 new people to its membership, bringing the total count to 2,281. Among them was UW Alumni, Deb Niemeier. Election to the NAE is among the most prestigious professional distinctions that engineers aspire to. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to, “engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature” and to “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/ implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.” Read More
