Call for Tech Transfer Success Stories – Up to $10k in funding!

    Due March 31, 2026

We are seeking proposals for up to $10k in funding for innovative tech transfer activities related to your transportation research. While we encourage PIs to submit ideas based on previously funded PacTrans research outputs, this RFP is open to anyone with strong transportation related research results who is interested in moving those results into practice.

How to apply and required format: Please see the full RFP here
Application form: Apply here by Mar 31, 2026

    Key Dates

    • Proposals Due: Mar 31, 2026
    • Decisions: Apr 30, 2026
    • Performance Period: Must start before Sept 16, 2026 (12-month performance period)

    Fundable Activities

We want projects that turn Outputs (papers, algorithms) into Outcomes (tools, adoption, policy changes). Think creatively about how to amplify the impact of your work! Examples include:

    • Commercialization: Patenting a method or launching a startup pilot.
    • Tools & Software: Polishing a research prototype into a deployable tool for practitioners.
    • Education: Hosting workshops, webinars, or training sessions for DOTs.
    • Marketing: Creating accessible guides, websites, or promotional videos for your findings.

    Eligibility & Requirements

    • Who: Open to any researcher with strong transportation-related results. Prior PacTrans funding is a plus, but not required.
    • Match: Federal rules require a 1:1 non-federal match. (e.g., if you request $10k, you need $10k in matching funds). The match can come from faculty time, university cost-share, DOT in-kind support, or industry partnerships. We will need a signed match letter before funds are distributed.
    • Deliverable: A short “Success Story” report (1-2 pages) documenting your activity and outcomes. Awardees may also be invited to present a webinar through the PacTrans series.

    How to Apply

    Submit a one-page proposal at https://forms.gle/QNeynkADbtRwvnwSA, covering:

    1. Title: A catchy title for your success story
    2. The Research: Brief summary of the original research and key findings
    3. The Plan: What will you do with this $10k? (e.g., “Host a safety workshop for WSDOT”).
    4. The Impact: Who will use this? How does it improve safety or mobility?
    5. The Team: Who is doing the work?
    6. The Budget: Rough estimate and source of your 1:1 match. A signed match letter will be required before funds are distributed.

Please include at least one image, chart, or diagram (images do not count towards page limit).
