    Region 10 Transportation Conference Recap

Last week, PacTrans concluded the 2020 Region 10 Transportation Conference cohosted by the Center for Safety Equity in Transportation Tier 1 UTC. This year the event was held virtually, with an opening event on Friday, October 16 and carrying into the following week.

That following week the conference hosted Webinar Week with one webinar each day on various topics surrounding the conference theme, Mobility for a Rapidly Changing Society.

Roughly 250 attendees from industry, agencies, and academia heard from sixteen different presenters on various topics surrounding issues of mobility and safety. There was certainly a lot of content on the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the movement of people and goods, but we also learned about new developments in micromobility, the impacts of wildfires and sea level rise on transportation safety, and much, much more.

This year’s virtual conference also showcased a virtual poster session, where a handful of our UTC funded researchers created short videos to highlight their great work. These videos, along with the recordings of the live events, and the winners of the 2020 PacTrans Annual Awards, can all be found on our conference website: www.pactransconference.com.

PacTrans would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in this year’s conference, as well as those who helped put together this event. We really appreciate all the work that went into planning it and we hope to see you all next year!
