{"id":1345,"date":"2014-04-28T10:37:01","date_gmt":"2014-04-28T18:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2014-05-21T10:37:23","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T18:37:23","slug":"star-lab-participates-in-uw-engineering-discovery-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/star-lab-participates-in-uw-engineering-discovery-days\/","title":{"rendered":"STAR Lab Participates in UW Engineering Discovery Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PacTrans \u00a0joined in the celebration of UW Engineering Discovery Days.\u00a0 Engineers and scientists from across campus displayed their most engaging research and projects during the 2 day event held from\u00a0April 25-26, 2014.\u00a0 This event was free and open to the public with almost 600 students, parents and \u00a0faculty in attendance.\u00a0 Some of the highlights included a PacTrans research project with a \u00a0display of an earthquake table used by structural engineers to test how structures will withstand earthquakes. This sort of testing is crucial to figuring out how well a structure, such as a bridge, would be able to withstand a major natural disaster.\u00a0 STAR Lab as well as other labs conducting research demonstrated their research to people of all ages as well.
