The Urban Freight Lab<\/a> is hosting their third annual Tech Day: Transforming the Final 50 Feet of Delivery<\/a>, a pitch competition for innovators improving the final leg of the urban goods delivery system – the Final 50 Feet<\/a>, which begins at the curb, in an alley, or a private loading bay, and ends with the customer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They are looking for solutions for the following key problems:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Reducing parking-seeking behavior in dense urban areas<\/li>\n
  2. Improving commercial vehicle parking space productivity<\/li>\n
  3. Reducing the number of failed first deliveries, and<\/li>\n
  4. Reducing dwell time for delivery vehicles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Finalists will pitch solutions at Tech Day<\/a> to their members<\/a> (retailers, freight carriers, UW researchers, and the City of Seattle DOT) and a panel of venture capitalists. Contestants receive exposure to potential customers and investors and may be chosen for a pilot project.<\/p>\n
