{"id":5742,"date":"2019-08-15T13:03:22","date_gmt":"2019-08-15T21:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/?p=5742"},"modified":"2019-08-15T13:07:50","modified_gmt":"2019-08-15T21:07:50","slug":"gonzaga-university-faculty-member-receives-outstanding-educator-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/gonzaga-university-faculty-member-receives-outstanding-educator-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Gonzaga University faculty member receives Outstanding Educator Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5744 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/awardphoto-e1565902982992.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gonzaga University faculty member and PacTrans constituent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gonzaga.edu\/academics\/faculty-listing\/detail\/youngr1\">Rhonda Young, P.E.<\/a>, received the <a href=\"https:\/\/westernite.org\/\">Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Western District<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/westernite.org\/annual-meetings\/awards\/outstanding-transportation-educator-award\/\">Outstanding Educator Award<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/westernite.org\/events\/2019-monterey-annual-meeting\/\">ITE Western District Meeting<\/a> in Monterey, CA late last June.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This award recognizes an educator who shows creativity in teaching and takes measures to spark student interest in the transportation profession, and encouragement for student endeavors. This award was received last year by <a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/associate-director-at-osu-is-ite-western-districts-outstanding-transportation-educator-of-the-year\/\">David Hurwitz<\/a>, Associate Professor and PacTrans Associate Director at OSU.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Young has been a transportation educator for 17 years and currently holds the position of Chair and Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Gonzaga, which she has been at since 2015.
