The intern\u00a0will update\u00a0data in Hansen, perform collision coding and quality\u00a0control checks for bike volume data, and create new reports and visualizations based on these data flows.<\/p>\n<p>The business objective of the Traffic and Records Unit is to maintain quality and consistent flow of data for multiple groups within SDOT. We maintain data within Hansen as well as collision data\u00a0and bike data &#8211;\u00a0reporting and summarizing the data to multiple groups within SDOT. Come and join\u00a0our team, we&#8217;re always working to improve our visualizations and reporting metrics!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Educational Benefit to Student:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under supervision, the student will gain exposures to the unit&#8217;s business objective of maintaining quality and consistent flow of data for multiple groups within SDOT, gaining skills in bike count data analysis, ArcGIS, and Hansen 8 software systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review and identify opportunities\u00a0to integrate data in new and powerful dashboards<\/li>\n<li>Use databases (ArcGIS, Hansen8, and Google Maps)\u00a0to update lane attributes for street segments<\/li>\n<li>Support unit\u00a0with collision coding as needed\n<ul>\n<li>Code how incidents and injuries occur using Hansen8 and a collision coding tool<\/li>\n<li>Perform quality\u00a0control\u00a0for\u00a0bike counters data as needed. (data collection may require field work)<\/li>\n<li>Analyze data and determine if recount or other adjustments are\u00a0necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Special projects as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Training will be provided\u00a0for all tasks<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education<\/strong>:<br \/>\nOpen\u00a0to undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled in an accredited educational program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Areas of Study: <\/strong>Engineering, Geography\/GIS, Administrative, Economics, or Business.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate students will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.<\/li>\n<li>Civil engineering students must\u00a0 maintain a 2.5 GPA or above throughout the internship.<\/li>\n<li>Graduate students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship..<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite<\/li>\n<li>Ability to quickly perform simple calculations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to learn new software and procedures under the direction of others<\/li>\n<li>Interest in transportation operations and data management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with ArcGIS<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Microsoft Access<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Hansen8<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Power Bl or Tableau<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Start\/End Dates<\/strong>:\u00a0 Late mid-January 2020 &#8211; upon completion of degree\/program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong>: Intern will work 12-20 hours\/weeks while school is in session.\u00a0 Work hours can be scheduled between 8:00am and 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>: <strong>Undergraduates<\/strong> will be paid $16.56\/hour. <strong>Graduates<\/strong> will be paid $20.30\/hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Civil engineering<\/strong> majors will be paid between $20.07\/hour to $22.59\/hour, depending on class status.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong> complete an online application and include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unofficial transcript including current classes and GPA<\/li>\n<li>Cover letter<\/li>\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incomplete applications will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, or to apply, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/seattle\/jobs\/2623781\/sdot-traffic-data-and-records-intern\">here<\/a>.
