This mission emphasizes a particular commitment to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Broadening the participation of students from underrepresented groups<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Increasing awareness among students about the diverse and rewarding careers available in the transportation industry<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encouraging and inspiring students from diverse backgrounds to consider pursuing a vocation in transportation<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8463\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/2024-UW-WTC-97x73.jpg 97w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2024 program was sponsored by PacTrans and WSDOT and was offered free of charge to all participating students. Both camps welcomed 44 high school students, with 25 at the UW and 19 at WSU. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and parents highlights the camp&#8217;s impact in raising awareness on career paths within the transportation industry.
