Want to learn what we&#8217;re doing to help the earth by reducing our carbon footprint? Or how we plan for the future while keeping people and goods moving? Ever just want to get a behind-the-scenes tour of a bridge or other parts of the transportation system? Know a teenager who does?<\/p>\n<p>If so, we have the perfect summer camp for you. We&#8217;re offering high school students a chance to spend a week exploring the transportation field. You\u2019ll meet with statewide experts, agency leaders and university professors at our Washington Transportation Camp 2025 hosted by PacTrans and <a href=\"https:\/\/wsdot.wa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSDOT<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8690\" src=\"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2024-UW-WTC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2024-UW-WTC.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2024-UW-WTC-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2024-UW-WTC-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/pactrans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2024-UW-WTC-97x73.jpg 97w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re offering a free six-day\/five-night camp. The camp includes lodging at a state university:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Washington State University in Pullman, WA from June 22-27, 2025<\/li>\n<li>University of Washington in Seattle, WA from August 3-8, 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students will stay on campus in university dorms during the camp. All lodging and meals are covered by sponsors so there are no costs to the students.<\/p>\n<p>The priority deadline to apply for both camps is March 31. The last chance to apply is April 11.<br \/>\nTo be considered, applicants must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade at a Washington state school for the fall 2025 semester.<\/li>\n<li>Students must be able to attend the entire session.<\/li>\n<li>You don&#8217;t need previous experience in engineering or transportation \u2013 but curiosity is a must!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To learn more about these programs and to apply, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/watransportation.camp\/\">watransportation.camp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both camps offer students the chance to:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Take field trips with professionals. Visit transportation facilities like a transportation management center to learn about their inner workings.<\/li>\n<li>Showcase knowledge in group projects.<\/li>\n<li>Make new friends and experience life on a college campus.<\/li>\n<li>Explore the potential for a future career in transportation\u2014whether it&#8217;s in engineering, planning, or beyond!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This could be the start of a career in transportation, engineering, planning, or a whole host of other fields. But even if it&#8217;s not, participants will have a better understanding of how we all get where we&#8217;re going. They\u2019ll understand how the things we buy and need get to store shelves or our homes \u2013 and what goes into making those trips as safe and smooth as possible.
