RESEARCH POSITION AVAILABLE Palliative Care Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh!
We are looking to fill high-level positions at PaRC (Palliative Research Center) ASAP. Under the direction of Dr. Yael Schenker, we are a fully-funded and growing group of faculty, staff, and students conducting rigorous, NIH-funded trials of palliative interventions among patients with serious illness.
Health Services Research Scientist
The Health Services Research Scientist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of palliative care research under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Director and will serve as a consultant for projects conducted within the Palliative Research Center (PaRC) related to improving quality of care for patients with serious illness and their families.
Responsibilities will include drafting and submitting applications for funding, including NIH and foundation grants; developing or revising research methodologies used in PaRC scientific research projects; and first-authoring publications based on existing data from two large NCI-funded R01 grants. In addition, the research scientist will form and maintain key relationships throughout the University of Pittsburgh, the Hillman Cancer Center, and the palliative care research community nationally, identifying opportunities for collaboration and dissemination of research findings.
This position requires a doctoral degree (PhD or ScD) in Health Services Research or a related field (e.g, Health Policy and Management). A doctoral degree in Sociology, Psychology, or a related health field would also be acceptable. Candidates should have 3 years of research experience, including experience with complex data analysis; excellent scientific writing and organizational skills; and at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal based on original data. This position is eligible for all University of Pittsburgh staff benefits, with ample opportunities for mentorship and career growth.
