These projections imply a 50% increase (from 3.6 to 5.5 years) in the Black-white life expectancy gap, reversing 20 years of progress in reducing this disparity. The previous Latino survival advantage relative to whites would be reduced by 85%. These analyses used COVID-19 estimates made by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
