Genomic analysis of the positive samples show significant genetic differences between viral strains collected during the two periods that could not be accounted for by short-term <i>in vivo<\/i> evolution, suggesting the patient was infected on two separate occasions. The second infection was reported to be symptomatically more severe than the first.
