In the URT, adults with severe COVID-19 had higher respiratory viral loads 1 day post-symptom onset than adults or children with non-severe illness. Between 1-10 days post-symptom onset, SARS-CoV-2 clearance from the URT was similar among adults with severe illness compared to adults and children with non-severe illnesses.
