Findings from the PeARL multinational cohort indicate that during the COVID-19 pandemic, children with asthma experienced fewer upper respiratory tract infections (RTIs), episodes of fever, emergency visits, hospital admissions, and asthma attacks and hospitalizations due to asthma than in the preceding year. When compared to non\u2010asthmatic controls, children with asthma were not at increased risk of lower RTIs, episodes of fever, emergency visits or hospitalizations during the pandemic. The authors suggest that reduced exposure to asthma triggers and increased treatment adherence may explain some of the reductions in adverse health outcomes observed in the first wave of the pandemic.<\/p>\n
