\u2022 US children with COVID-19 or seasonal influenza had similar rates of hospitalization, intensive care unit admission, and mechanical ventilator use. Song et al. found that among 315 children with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 and 1,402 children with laboratory-confirmed influenza A or B there was no difference in the level of hospitalization (17% vs 21%), intensive care unit admission (6% vs 7%), or use of mechanical ventilators (3% vs. 2%). More patients with COVID-19 than with influenza were age 15 years or older (37% vs. 6%) or had underlying medical conditions (65% vs 42%). Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 reported more clinical symptoms at the time of diagnosis than patients with seasonal influenza.<\/p>\n
