Using data from 19 European counties,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Arpino et al.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">found<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0that at the country level,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">higher levels of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ntergenerational\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">elationships<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are associated with higher\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">COVID-19\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">case fatality<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, although the magnitude of the association is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">small.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0the subnational level<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an\u00a0opposite association is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">often observed.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0The authors\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">advocate for policies that take into consideration the important instrumental and emotional support that\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">intergenerational ties<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0provide<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">which\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">may\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">increase<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0compliance\u00a0to\u00a0the lockdown and &#8220;phase-2&#8221; restrictions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Arpino et al.
