These findings were based on a cross-sectional study of 1,733 patients with MIS-C in the United States. Children age 0-4 had the lowest proportion of severe manifestations, whereas patients aged 18-20 had the highest proportion with myocarditis, pneumonia, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. A higher proportion of older adolescents reported a preceding COVID-19-like illness.
