Neoplasia conditions (hepatoma, cholangiocarcinoma, metastatic carcinoma)

Generally not present in inflammation (viral or alcoholic hepatitis, abscess, cholecystitis).

Note: Patients with malignancy or cirrhosis with alcoholic hepatitis or portacaval shunt may also have a right upper quadrant systolic murmur.
