AED Update

Hey Premeds – hope you all had a great three day weekend, and enjoyed seeing the snow 🙂

Here’s what’s going on with AED this week!

Hope Heart Volunteering!

Hope Heart partners with elementary schools to make children and families aware of heart disease and to promote healthy lifestyles. On Thursday January 19th Hope Heart and AED are helping host a family health night at Laffayette elementary school. We are looking for around 15 volunteers to help throughout the night. We need help with the various events throughout the nigh that include zumba lessons, mini stunts, track meet, activity wheel, dress me, and many many more activities. We will be doing our best to provide rides on the 19th and we expect volunteers to be ready around 4:30-5pm that day for their rides. This is an extremly fun event and we hope you can make it. If you can go, email our philanthropy chair Lesley Hahn (hahn.lesley@gmail.com). Spaces are limited so act now!

AED’s First General Meeting of the Quarter!

AED will be having its first general meeting of winter quarter tomorrow, January 17th in Sieg 134 at 6 PM! The featured presentation is a Pediatrics-Themed Physician Panel with:

Dr. Hans Ochs (Seattle Children’s Immunology and Pediatrics) Dr. Ken Gow (Seattle Children’s Pediatric Surgery and Oncology) Dr. Robert Fukura (Virginia Mason Primary Care/Pediatrics)

We will also be offering sign-ups for a lot of great volunteer opportunities! Free pizza as always! You don’t want to miss out. See you tomorrow!

That’s all for now. The fun science fact of the day is that your brain uses ~20% of the oxygen you take in, even though it’s only 2% of your body mass!
