Just a quick reminder that we are meeting tomorrow, February 8, from 4-5:30 in Health Sciences T-474. Anna will be leading us in a discussion of different ethical issues. No need to prepare, and feel free to drop by at any point in our discussion. Snacks will be provided!

In addition, please see the funding opportunity put forth today by the Bioethics & Humanities department if you submit an abstract to the 2012 National Undergraduate Bioethics Conference at the University of Denver March 23rd and 24th!

As you may know, the 2012 National Undergraduate Bioethics Conference (NUBC) is being hosted by the University of Denver on March 23-24. For more on the conference, please visit their website: http://www.nubcdenver.com/

The Department of Bioethics and Humanities (B&H) is pleased to announce a partial travel sponsorship opportunity for students participating in the conference. Eligibility is limited to those students who have an Essay abstract accepted to present at the conference. The department will provide a $250 scholarship toward travel expenses.

Please note the late nature of this announcement: Essay abstracts are due to NUBC February 15, 2012! Visit the conference website for further details regarding the Essay competition.

For consideration for the B&H travel award, students should email bhinfo@uw.edu with the following information : – Forward the email confirmation of an accepted abstract – Include your full name and UW Student ID # (this opportunity is limited to matriculated UW undergraduate students) in the body of the email – Attach the accepted Abstract

The B&H faculty will determine the scholarship award recipient on the basis of review of the submitted Abstracts.

Timeline: – 2/15: Essay abstract due to NUBC – 2/18: Successful submission notified by NUBC – 2/22 5 pm: Application for B&H award due to bhinfo@uw.edu – 2/29: Awardee notified – 3/23-4: NUBC Conference in Denver, CO
