Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility is a nonprofit organization guided by the values and expertise of medicine and public health. We engage the community to create a healthy, peaceful and sustainable world. Our goals include actively working to achieve sustainable environmental policies, eliminating toxic chemicals, abolition of nuclear weapons and prevention of armed conflict and its causes.
We are looking for an intern to develop and implement a public relations program beginning with development of an overall strategy, goals and objectives. Responsibilities and tasks include monthly e-newsletter, using social media, flyers, posters, press releases, white papers, and some technical writing. Start date is September 1, 2012, 5 – 8 hours per week. Necessary qualifications: writing samples and course work and/or experience in journalism, public relations, public affairs, health communications, healthcare or science writing. Bonus is experience writing press releases or features, articles about health or science, government affairs, environmental science or health.
