MEDIC Meeting on 10/16

Hello All,

On Tuesday, October 16th in Health Sciences T wing room 359 from 5 to 6:30, MEDIC will hold its next meeting. Zach will lead a discussion on the ethical implications of healthcare policy and health insurance. Is there a trade-off between short term freedom in decision making and long term access to health care? Why does America spend more on health care yet have relatively poorer outcomes? Can we reduce the amount we spend on health care or somehow achieve better outcomes at our current level of spending in an ethically sound manner? How do other nation’s healthcare systems compare?

If you want to read more about this subject before our meeting,

This OECD report offers some insight into these challenges:

And this blog post helps explain some of the unique issues regarding health insurance:

Navigating the Health Sciences building can be tricky. Enter through the main T wing entrance and signs will direct you to the exact room. Feel free to bring your friends! Snacks will be provided.
