MEDIC 10/30

Hello Everyone,

On Tuesday, October 30th in Health Sciences T wing room 359 from 5 to 6:30, MEDIC will hold its next meeting. Zach will be discussing pigovian taxes on cigarettes, nutrition labeling requirements and restrictions on the selling of unhealthy products such as sugary drinks. Is it ethical to require people to pay more for an unhealthy choice if society may end up paying for the consequences? Do labeling requirements cause people to make healthier choices, or are they simply a burden? Does outlawing large soda containers allow people to make better decisions, or is it infringing on autonomy?

If you want to read more about this subject before our meeting, these two sources give some good background:

Navigating the Health Sciences building can be tricky. Enter through the main T wing entrance and signs will direct you to the exact room. Feel free to bring your friends! Snacks will be provided.
