Volunteer Opportunity with UW school forkids with special needs

The organization is the UW’s Experimental Education Unit (EEU). The EEU is a little school on the UW campus (way down south, behind the UWMC on the Montlake Cut) that provides a variety of educational and support services to young children with special needs and their families. The EEU is an amazing place – what makes it unique from other school and therapy programs for kids with special needs is that all of our classrooms have kids with special needs and kids who are typically-developing, so that all kids are learning together. It’s truly a place where everyone belongs.

Most of our funding comes from the Seattle School District. Since our services are so exceptional, the demand for our programs far outweighs what we’re able to provide. In order to help with this, we hold an auction every spring to help raise money towards an endowment. The auction is a really, really fun event – around 500 people attend every year!! We rely heavily on volunteers to help the event run smoothly.

The volunteer opportunity/position that we’re seeking volunteers for is: EEU Auction Saturday May 21st, 2010 Time: 5:30-10:30 pm Position: Servers to help serve salads, dinner, and desserts to the guests during the dinner & live auction portion of the night Contact: Tammy at tammymitchel@gmail.com and Anneli Jefferson at aandjjefferson@yahoo.com

It’s a really fun event, and servers get the opportunity to be in the middle of the action during the bidding wars and festivities during the live auction!!
