Thomas Waters
Hello, my name is Thomas Waters. I transferred to the University of Washington as a junior from South Seattle College. I am currently a double major in physics and astronomy with the intent to earn a Ph.D. in astrophysics. My long-term goal is to become an astrophysicist, but I am still undecided on my area of focus. However, despite all I have learned about astronomy, I keep gravitating back to black holes (pun intended). I plan to use the Pre-MAP course to investigate black holes, and other celestial phenomena, and to formulate a plan for my career. I was born and raised in a tiny town in Idaho that no one has heard of with a population of about 900. Following high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. After four years of service, I moved to Seattle to start my journey in higher education. I enjoy spending my time SCUBA diving, hiking, mead making, and playing guitar. I am greatly looking forward to spending the next two years learning physics and astronomy at UW!
