As a proud alum and now a professional staff member of the UW, I have seen the hard work and dedication that professional staff does on a daily basis to make this institution outstanding. I am excited to give back to this community of professional staff by serving as an advocate and representative. Personally, I am very interested in developing a deeper understanding of institutional systems and university governance. Through communication and education, I hope to help professional staff find connections and community with one another. When I am not working, I can found be found running around Seattle and doing local races. Ask me about my favorite place to run!

Research Scientist/Engineer, UW Medicine

Originally for Kenya, I immigrated to the United States in 2008, after which I attended the University of Washington. Currently, I am a Research Scientist/Engineer at UWMedicine where I specialize on ageing pathologies. In my position, I work with a diverse group of professionals and admire their dedication in making the world more habitable. I am more interested in enabling further collaboration between professional staff within the many departments at UW as well as advocating for the rights of professional staff. When I am not working, I am likely on a road trip. The United States, and especially Washington State, has so much natural beauty, and I enjoy experiencing it to the fullest.

View Bio Lydecia (Deci) Evans

Harborview Department of Surgery

I have worked between Harborview and the University of Washington Medical Center for 13 years. My experience working in the different environments of the medical centers has helped me prepare for this PSO leadership role. I am very excited to be considered for this position and will bring the skills I have learned to help continue to make the PSO successful and informative to all of its members.

Assistant to the Secretary of the Faculty, Faculty Senate and Governance

Jed works as a staff member in the Faculty Senate office. He graduated from the UW in 2011 and previously worked for the Washington State Legislature. In addition to his role on the PSO Board, Jed serves as the Legislative Committee chair, where he works to ensure that our voice is heard on campus and in Olympia. Outside of work, Jed enjoys running, backpacking, cycling, and home brewing.

Claudia Frere-Anderson is director of the UW Sustainability office for Planning & Management at the University of Washington, Seattle. She is responsible for overseeing communications, sustainability reporting and engagement programs, working with committees, staff, faculty, students and interns. Claudia graduated Cum Laude in Politics from the University of San Francisco with an emphasis in political development theory and a Certificate in Peace & Justice Studies. She received her MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility from Nottingham University Business School in the United Kingdom where she received a full scholarship from the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR).

Individualized Marketing Specialist, Transportation Services

I am driven by a desire to develop thriving communities and a healthy environment. I work in Transportation Services to implement programs that make it easier for students and employees get to and from campus. Working within Facilities Services, I recognize the diverse positions and duties professional staff uphold and carry out to keep the UW operating, innovating and at the leading edge.

As a board member, I hope to serve UW professional staff by advocating for and supporting the varied roles they play at the University.

Managing Director, Center for Enabling New Technologies Through Catalysis Chemistry

I would like to serve on PSO so that I can learn more about the governance of UW and connect with my fellow professionalstaff. I've spent my entire career as professional staff at flagship state research universities. Since March 2008 I have been with UW as Managing Director of the Center for Enabling New Technologies Through Catalysis, which is a National Science Foundation Center for Chemical Innovation administered out of UW with participants at 13 universities and National Labs around the U.S. and Canada. Previous to my position at UW, I was a staff scientist at the University of Arizona Department of Chemistry for over 12 years. During my time at Arizona I was very active as a representative and officer in the Appointed Professional Advisory Council, the Arizona governance organization comparable to PSO. I look forward to continuing to learnmore about UW and contributing my skills to PSO.

View Bio Stacey Holland

Designer | Media Specialist, PNASH Center, Dept. of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences

Stacey Holland is an experienced designer and media specialist. Holland translates research content into media that can be shared with lay populations, government agencies, health care providers, and academia. Her work focuses on the creation of educational and outreach materials and exhibits related to occupational safety and health and has been featured in various scientific publications, and at national and international events.

Holland is an active member of the PSO Board and Communications Committee and sits as PSO representative on the committee for UW childcare advancement. Holland aims to improve accessibility through integrated arts, science, and technology. She spearheaded the motion to update the PSO website and plans to expand the voice of the PSO and representation on campus.

Customer Relationship Manager, UW InformationTechnology

Linda Hornung is a Customer Relationship Manager in UW-IT working with campus units on complex projects involving central IT services.

This spring she earned certification as a Business Relationship Management Professional, and has completed two UW PCE courses in fiction and technical writing. As a life-long learner she enjoys helping her clients understand IT services so they realize optimal value from their investments and are able to best meet the needs of their constituents.

She has worked on the Seattle UW campus since 1980, and she graduated from the UW Magna Cum Laude.

Airlift Northwest

Lori Joubert is an Executive Administrative Assistant for Airlift Northwest within the UW Medicine Health System. She has worked for Airlift Northwest for 6 years and is responsible for supporting the leadership team and staff in the organization's mission to improve health and serve communities by saving lives wherever needed, 24 hours a day - every day. In 2014, Lori became a new board member of the UW Professional Staff Organization (PSO) and is currently serving on the Northwest Coalition for Professional Staff (NCPS) in Higher Education as this year's conference program chair. She received her M.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Washington, and holds a Certified Listening Professional (CLP) certificate with the International Listening Association. For fun, she enjoys tap dancing in her free time and is currently taking lessons at Exit Space dance studio in Seattle, WA.

Director, Husky Leadership Initiative, Undergraduate Academic Affairs

I have had the enormous privilege of working as a professional staff member at the UW for the past 10 years in Undergraduate Academic Affairs. My professional work experience centers around facilitating college students' learning and development in their journeys to become effective, caring and socially just citizens in their communities. I am also a proud UW alum having attended graduate school in the UW School of Marine Affairs and the College of Education.

I greatly value the professional staff community as vital contributors to fulfilling the mission of the UW through our commitment to education and public service. I look forward to advancing PSO's important work of highlighting the contributions of our community, promoting professional development opportunities, and building a strong network of professional staff members.

I graduated from the Foster School of Business in 2014, and am now currently working on Master's Degree through the Information School. I am also a team member of the Academic Service's Student Program. I have been with UW-IT for over 2 years, and previously worked with Student Fiscal Services for an additional 2 years. Having previous experience working with on-campus body governments, lobbying in Olympia for higher education, and a deep understanding of the university's diverse campus departments, I am excited to now be a part of the Professional Staff Organization and address the needs and concerns of those who help make UW the great campus it is for our students.

Business & Finance -- UW IT

Katie has started her second year with UW-IT as well as the UW's Professional Staff Organization (PSO). She comes to the public sector with a background in accounting from a diverse list of private companies and industries. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her dogs, reading and writing fiction, researching/planning home renovations and spending time with family and friends.
