Survivorship

Survivorship is a term used to describe the time period following primary anticancer treatment. Survivorship is associated also with wellness and recovering from the effects of primary treatment. Because cancer treatments options have largely evolved during the last 10 years, survivorship is a relatively new emerging area in research.

In this section, we have included treatments used to enhance quality of life as well as treatments to prevent cancer recurrence (secondary cancer prevention).

Oncology researchers and physicians are attempting to understand what factors improve survivorship besides primary treatment outcomes. As of today there are only two types of interventions that are known to reduce risk of cancer recurrence: exercise and some botanical products.
