| Intro Nutrient Needs in the Postpartum Period |
Developing Interventions Vegetarian Women who follow vegetarian food patterns may have inadequate intakes of specific nutrients. Depending on the foods consumed, special attention (and/or supplements) may be required to ensure adequate intakes of protein, iron, vitamin B12, zinc, and calcium. (See the Table in Module 2, Nutrition and Normal Pregnancy for more detail about specific nutrients and vegetarian food patterns.)
