Elena Dobretsova\u00a0<\/a>received BS degree (2011) in geology and then MS degree (2013) in crystllography and crystal chemistry from\u00a0Lomonosov Moscow State University<\/a> after pursuing undergraduate research on the Crystallography and Crystal chemistry<\/a> department under the supervision of Dr. Elena Borovikova<\/a> and Dr. Victoria Kurazhkovskaya. \u00a0Her work focused on understanding the problem of structure-properties relationship in the rare-earth borates with a structural type of huntite mineral. After being recognized with the Grant of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research<\/a> for young scientists and the Scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation<\/a> she pursued a Ph.D. in Physics under the direction of\u00a0 Dr. Kirill Boldyrev<\/a> and Prof.\u00a0Marina Popova<\/a> at the Institute of Spectroscopy<\/a> of the Russian Academy of Science, Moscow, Troitsk where her dissertation focused on the synthesis and characterization of inorganic crystals doped by rare-earth ions. Since 2017 Dr. Elena Dobretsova has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the\u00a0Materials Science & Engineering<\/a>\u00a0department at the University of Washington.<\/p>\n
