Rachel Gariepy received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at California Polytechnic State
\nUniversity in 2019. During her undergraduate career, she conducted research in Dr. Sandra
\nWard\u2019s group, synthesizing novel supramolecular amphiphiles and examining their ability to
\nself-assemble into different molecular architectures based on concentration. She was also an
\nactive member of Cal Poly\u2019s chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma, a co-ed professional chemistry
\nfraternity. This gave her the opportunity to tutor students in general and organic chemistry
\nclasses, bring scientific outreach to local elementary schools, and connect with many professors
\nwithin the department. She is now pursuing a Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering at UW
\nin Dr. Peter Pauzauskie\u2019s group, where she is researching materials that undergo laser cooling
\nand their ability to modulate enzyme turnover rate.<\/p>\n
