Target Group

Underrepresented High School Southeast Asian Americans. Priority consideration will be given first to students who identify as Lao, Cham, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Mien, Khmu, Burmese, Thai, Nepali, or from any indigenous group in the Southeast Asian area. Priority will be given to high school seniors.


Southeast Asians Overcoming Adversity & Rising (SOAR) is a one-day conference hosted by the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity’s Recruitment and Outreach Division to encourage students to pursue higher education. Students will get the opportunity to learn about admissions process, work on their application for the UW, meet and interact with UW students and staff, and experience the UW Campus.
