Shades of Purple is a student conference for underrepresented minority high school rising seniors (class of 2018) who are interested in attending the University of Washington – Seattle. The program focuses its resources on serving the following underrepresented minority groups: African American, Pacific Islander ( Melanesian, Polynesian, Micronesian) Southeast Asian, (Vietnamese, Lao, Khmer, Hmong, Mien, etc) Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian/Alaskan Native. “Shades of Purple in The Community” was created to encourage Underrepresented Minority students to pursue higher education as well as to give them the opportunity to experience the UW. Participants will meet future classmates, learn about campus programs, and discover the diversity and unity that exists within the UW community. You are guaranteed a lot of fun and a rewarding, worthwhile experience! (Note: Application and participation is open to all students regardless of race/ethnic background).

UW Seattle Campus: August 15 -16 (session is full).
Tri-Cities: August 7th (session is full)
Yakima: August 8th (session is full)
Wenatchee: August 10th
The 2017 Shades of Purple Application is OPEN! Click on the ONLINE APPLICATION and apply for the program. Applications will be accepted until programs are full. Apply early to improve your chances of getting a space.
In order for your application to be considered complete, applicants must submit a signed parent/guardian permission form. You may fax, scan, email or mail permission forms to the following address if you did not attach the permission from with the application. Priority consideration will be given to applicants with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
