This screen is used to add or change a course.

  • QTR/YR: ____/____.  Enter quarter/year
  • SLN field ________ enter the SLN (skip when adding a new course) 
  • ACTION: 
    • (1) = Find
    • (A)  = Add
    • (C) = Change
    • (2) = 230A Screen
  • AofK OVER: Appears only when an Area of Knowledge (AofK) field is flagged differently than the curriculum record on the SRF200/205 screen.
  • BRANCH:   
    • 0 =  Seattle
    • 1 =  Bothell 
    • 2  = Tacoma.
  • CURRIC: =  Course prefix
  • COURSE:  000 = course number
  • SECTION = 1 or 2 letters or letter/number combination
  • SUMMER TERM:   If course is not full term for Summer Quarter enter appropriate term (A or B). If course is for only part of Summer Quarter but spans over both A-term and B-term, leave blank.
  • STARTS: enter date only if course does not start/end on normal quarterly schedule.
  • END: = same as above.
  • PROGRAM  = Institute code for special programs, e.g., 95 for PCE.
  • EVENING  =  "Y" if course is taught as part of the Evening Degree Program
  • OSFA AID ELIG
    • 0 = Eligible for financial aid
    • 1 = Ineligible for financial aid
  • PRIME SECT: If the section is a secondary, defines which section is the primary.
  • LINK TYPE: If the section is a primary, defines the valid type(s) of the secondary sections.
  • SECTION CODE: determines section type
    • CK=Clerkship. Students work as a clerk for a working professional.
    • CL=Clinic. Students participate in both observing and executing health care delivery in a clinic setting.
    • CO=Conference. Students attend a conference and optionally present their research results.
    • IS=Independent Study. Students work independently with guidance from instructors. No instructor is listed in the Time Schedule, but students use 5-digit instructor code when registering.
    • LB=Lab. Students work on projects in a defined laboratory space. Instructors are on-hand for students to ask questions and guidance.
    • LC=Lecture. Instructor presentation of course materials.
    • PR=Practicum. Student has supervised practical application of theory similar to an junior professional in a professional setting.
    • QZ=Quiz. Discussion of course material, quizzes, tests and other exercises.
    • SM=Seminar. Students participate in discussing specific topics in small groups with faculty.
    • ST=Studio. Students work on projects in a defined studio space. Instructors are on-hand for students to ask questions and guidance.
  • LIMIT/ESTIMATE:  = L or E
    • Limit = Defines the maximum number of students allowed in the section. Limit can be over-riddent to 115% of room capacity via add codes.
    • Estimate = Enrollment is capped at room capacity. Estimate can be over-ridden to 115% of room capacity via add codes.

  • QTR CREDITS: Number of credits for course. If course is fixed leave second field blank. Secondary sections are zero credits.
  • CRDT CONTROL
    • 1 = fixed number of credits, 
    • = Variable number of credits within the range determined by the QTR CREDITS field.
    • 3 = Multiple: One or another number of credits, determined by QTR CREDITS field.  
  • MAX. REPEAT CRDTS: __.__maximum repeatable credits.  
  • DUPL ENROLL= (Y) or blank allows students to sign up for more than one section of a course in a quarter, or to enroll more than once in this section.
  • FEE TYPE:
    • 1 = In addition to tuition, auditors charged
    • 2 = In place of tuition
    • 3 = In addition to tuition, auditors are not charged.   
  • AMOUNT: = Dollar amount of the Fee. Fees should be in whole dollar amounts.
  • BUDGET: = Budget to which fees are posted.
  • REV OBJ CD: always 943081.
  • FEE USE CD: Signifies what the fee is to be used for
    • 1 = Lab
    • 2 = Studio
    • 3 = Immunization/medical
    • 4 = Supplies (other than lab)
    • 5 = Field trip
    • 6 = Technology support
    • 7 = Distance learning support
    • 8 = Tuition (use only with FEE TYPE 2)
    • 9 = Other
  • BLOCK REG SLNS: Students registering for this section will automatically be registered into the SLNs listed here. These are known as 'children' sections to the 'parent.'
  • GRADING SYSTEM:
    • 0 = default grading system (usually numeric, but can vary depending on school/college and/or student class)
    • 5 = credit/no credit
  • SECONDARY GRDSHEET:__  Y or blank
    • Y = Grading is submitted via the secondary sections.
    • blank = Grading is submitted via the primary section.
  • HONORS COURSE: Y or blank
  • SELF SUSTAINING: Section is part of a self-sustaining program. Students are unable to register for this section via the online registration system. Instead, the program registers the students and collects the fees directly.
  • COURSE CONTENT: Any alpha-numeric character. Used for variable content courses (e.g., special topics courses) to signify which sections have the same content. If a student attempts to register for a full section, the online registration system will only list as options those sections with the same COURSE CONTENT code.
  • DEDUCTIBLE: Section does not count toward graduation.
  • WITHDRAW/SUSPEND:
    • blank: Section is active and students can register
    • @: Section is in withdrawn status and students cannot register for the section. All students registered are dropped. If SLNs have not been assigned the section is deleted and cannot be retrieved.
    • S = Section is in suspended status. It is still offered, but it disappears from the online Time Schedule and students cannot register into the section.
  • TIME MASK EXCEPT: If Y, prevents the registration system from marking the days/times of the section on the student's record, allowing the student to register for overlapping times.
  • OMITTED FROM T.S.: If Y, section does not appear in the online Time Schedule. Cannot be set from the SRF230 screen.
  • General Education Requirements: With the exception of Writing, all General Education requirements are set at the Curriculum level (SRF205) and should only be over-ridden with permission of the Curriculum Office.

  • SRVC: Y or blank. Marks the class on the student's transcript as having a signficant service-learning component.
  • HYPHENATED CODE: a hyphenated course is part of a sequence of courses where a grade is deferred until the sequence is completed.  The code consists of 2 digits.  The first digit is the position of the course within the sequence.; the second digit is the total number of courses in the sequence.  For example, 23 is the second course in a three-course sequence
  • PRIOR HYPHENATED CRSE: Course prefix, course number, & section letter/s for prior course in hyphenated sequence.
  • DISTANCE LEARN TYPE: 3 = Internet learning
  • CAL TYPE: Distance learning calendar type
    • 1 = on calendar. Distance learning section follows academic calendar.
    • 2 = off calendar, synchronous. Distance learning section starts and ends on dates different than the academic calendar, but all students start and end at the same time.
    • 3 = off calendar, asynchronous. Distance learning section where students can start and end at their discretion. Students in the section do not proceed through the material as a cohort. DUR field must be filled in.
  • DUR: Duration (in days) for asynchronous distance learning section that students have to complete the material after registering for the section. If unknown, use 90.
  • JOINT WITH: ____ ___ __  Course prefix, course number, & section letter/s for a course with which the present course is being offered.  Some courses are set up via the curriculum (SRF 205) to always be joint.  A curricular joint is always offered with another course of the same number of credits, same meeting times and same requirements. Ad hoc joints (a.k.a., 'withers') are not defined by the curriculum and do not have to have identical days/times.
  • RESPONSIBLE COURSE:  Section in a joint loop which is allowed to make changes to the sections in the joint loop.
  • JOINT LIMIT: When blank, the individual limits of the sections in a joint loop are honored. When filled in, enrollment for all the sections remains open until the combined enrollment of all sections in the joint loop reaches this value, at which time all sections close.
  • COREQUISITE:___ ___ __ Course name, number,  & Sections of a course in which a student must enroll in before or at the same time as registering for the present course.
