It conveys important information but is probably opaque to many readers. How do I communicate&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00227-018-3320-4\">this research<\/a>&nbsp;to the public? How do I appeal to the next generation of scientists and teachers and voters and leaders? The youth\u2026 the Millennials?<br><em>You have to speak their language.<\/em><br>Ok, what do I know about Millennials, generalizing wildly based on false stereotypes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Millennials only think about themselves.<\/li><li>Millennials speak like they\u2019ve never read a decent book in their lives.<\/li><li>Millennials can only comprehend text if it&#8217;s paired with an image.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You have to play by their rules.<\/em><em><\/em><br>Fine. For the sake of science communication, for the sake of advancing society\u2019s understanding of global change (but really for the sake of some fun), I\u2019ll put the Millennials in the shoes of an intertidal snail. I woke up ready to slay, except I was hungry AF. I just wanted to eat some barnacles but I was seriously too hot to move. Like actually. The struggle is real.&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>The air was so hot. I can\u2019t even. Like it was literally fire. But not \u2018fire\u2019 like \u2018lit\u2019, but \u2018fire\u2019 like \u2018really hot\u2019, you know? \u201cLet\u2019s go out \u2018cause it\u2019s uncomfortably hot out\u201d \u2013 said no one ever.<\/em><br><em>But then I thought, hold up though\u2026 what if I hot tub first? And I got in the warm water and that sh*t was on fleek. It made me feel so much better about the hot air and I was like, \u201cYAAAAS give me those barnacles\u201d. It made me want to eat again.<\/em><br><em>And the barnacles were saying to each other, \u201cdudes we gotta bounce\u201d but I was like, \u201chunty, you sessile\u201d and I ate them where they were. Like, sorry not sorry. I was totally #Adulting #LivingMyBestLife, you know?<\/em><br>I hope you found that blurb helpful.
