Community Youth Development Study (CYDS)

CYDS is an efficacy trial of the Communities That Care operating system in reducing youth drug use and problem behaviors at the community level. The CYDS study includes eight data collection efforts across 24 communities in the United States.

Project Highlights/Unique Features
  • Large scale, nation-wide study in collaboration with seven states.
  • Longitudinal panel of 4,407 youth who consented in 5th and 6th grade (Class of 2011).
  • Cross-sectional surveys of nearly 20,000 eligible students in Grades 6, 8, 10 & 12 from 24 communities.
  • Multi-component study (see below).
