In collaboration with Pacific Treatment Services of Snohomish County, the study provided outpatient treatment to approximately 110 cocaine abusers. Half of the participants received a skills training intervention based on a cognitive-behavioral relapse prevention model, and half received a Twelve Step approach to treatment, based on the model of addiction as disease. Participants in both treatments reduced their cocaine use.
