Transportation

Sea-Tac Airport

The University of Washington is located in the city of Seattle in America’s Pacific Northwest. Home to such major corporations as Amazon, Microsoft, and Starbucks (as well as Boeing’s largest U.S. factories), Seattle is well served by Sea-Tac International Airport situated just south of the city. The airport is well connected to the University District by taxi, bus, light rail, and airport shuttle services.

Airport to University District

Seattle’s Link Light Rail will take you directly from the airport to the newly opened U District Light Rail Station or the UW Husky Stadium Light Rail Station. A trip to the UW campus will cost approximately $3.25 and take roughly 45 minutes. The Graduate Hotel is located about one block north of the U District Light Rail Station.

Getting to the conference

The SHEL conference sessions will take place primarily in the HUB (the Husky Union Building) on the UW Campus. The HUB is located about 3/4 of a mile from the Graduate Hotel, which takes about 15-20 minutes to walk (here is a link to walking directions). The 372 bus travels from the U District to the HUB, departing from 15th Avenue NE.

Parking
If you drive, please try to arrive to campus 15 minutes before your scheduled visit to allow time to park and find your way to your destination. See this link for UW’s guide to visitor parking. We recommend parking in the Padelford Garage (lots N16-N21) or lot N22 (if available), both of which are close to the HUB.
