Logging in to SDB

Before you Begin

Please ensure that you have installed “UWICK”, also known as the Tera Term Pro application, on your computer. Tera Term can be downloaded at no cost from the UWIT Uware site for Windows or on IT Connect for OSX (Macs). Note: Installation requires administrative privileges, contact your departmental IT support for assistance.

Locate the “Keynes” program on your computer to open the terminal window to log on.

Steps:

1. When you open SDB, the first screen you will see is the Sign-On Screen.

  • Enter your assigned Usercode (NetID) – this is the code you were given by the Registrar’s Office when you received your SDB access.
  • Enter your chosen Password – note that you’ll be prompted to change your password every 60 days. Note: It is recommended you change your password every quarter, you access might be disabled if you do not log in to they system regularly.

2. On the PRN Screen enter the numbers displayed on your SecureID/Entrust token.

3. On the Main Menu enter your choice as SDB.

4. The next screen gives you access to SDB records. In the Home position (upper left-hand corner of the screen), e.g.  SRF305

Common Problems Logging on

Message reading The password you have entered is invalid.

  • Double-check your password. Keynes passwords are not case-sensitive
  • Call 206.221.5000 to have someone in the UW Technology Service Center reset your password

Message reading THIS USERCODE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED.

  • Usercodes can be suspended for many reasons ranging from lack of use to security concerns
  • If you have questions or problems, call the UW Technology Service Center staff at 206.221.5000

Message reading Usercode may not be used for logon.

  • The usercode you have entered is a “secondary” or “Switch” usercode
  • Log on using your primary usercode
  • If you have questions or problems, call the UW Technology Service Center staff at 206.221.5000

Doesn’t accept password, but no error messages and the cursor moves back up to usercode field.

  • Make sure you’re pressing the Send/Enter key on the number pad
  • Your cap lock is off and number lock is on
  • After trying the above and it doesn’t work try Control-J if that works you will need to make sure you have the latest TeraTerm software from the UWare Software
  • You can continue to use Control-J until you have downloaded the software
  • If you still have questions or problems call the UW Technology Service Center staff at 206 221.5000

Trouble entering a PRN (Pseudo-Random Number)

  • A PRN on an ENTRUST Token may only be used once. Hold the button down until the status bar fills the display with dashes then release
  • If it still won’t except a number it is possible that your token is out of sync. You can re-sync it at the Self Service page at: https://uwnetid.washington.edu/manage/?entrust
