Career Development

Students at the School of Marine and Environmental Affairs are well prepared to launch fulfilling careers when they graduate. The MMA degree provides them with a well-rounded science/policy perspective and strong analytical tools for tackling policy and management problems.

Our graduates go on to many different types of careers spanning all forms of government, nonprofit, industry, and academia.

In addition to the one-on-one career advising, resume review, alumni career panels, and other career services that SMEA provides, students can also take full advantage of the many career development resources available to them through the University of Washington’s Career Center. Here are just a few of the services the Career Center provides:

  • Walk-in appointments every day, as well as scheduled appointments and mock interviews
  • Graduate student career list-servs
  • Values Identification, Dependable Strengths, and Career Assessment Workshops
  • Etiquette dinners
  • Training in how to use social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter effectively in your job search.
