Credit: Matthew Weinstein, 2025<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During the conference, several UW faculty gave signature talks, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Associate Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/ais.washington.edu\/people\/dian-million\"><strong>Dian Million<\/strong><\/a> (American Indian Studies) delivered the presidential plenary keynote on generative dis\/connections between indigenous studies and science and technology studies.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty <a href=\"https:\/\/aes.washington.edu\/people\/lupe-alberto-flores\"><strong>Lupe Alberto Flores<\/strong><\/a> (American Ethnic Studies) and <a href=\"https:\/\/cinema.washington.edu\/people\/diana-flores-ruiz\"><strong>Diana Flores Ru\u00edz <\/strong><\/a>(Cinema &amp; Media Studies) featured as keynote speakers in an address on Bordering, which traced struggles and solidarities across bordering mechanisms, describing the use of systems of attention and surveillance to violently separate, confine, and debilitate.<\/li>\n<li>Graduate students <a href=\"https:\/\/dxarts.washington.edu\/people\/althea-rao\"><strong>Althea Rao<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dxarts.washington.edu\/people\/sadaf-sadri\"><strong>Sadaf Sadri<\/strong> <\/a>(DXARTS), and alum <a href=\"https:\/\/arts.ucsc.edu\/faculty\/2024\/10\/new-faculty-member-chari-glogovac-smith-assistant-professor-of-film-and-digital-media\/\"><strong>Chari Glogovac-Smith<\/strong><\/a> (DXARTS), gave the threaded keynote address Art Scenes, offering remarks that recast the technological logics of capitalist racialization and militarism for creative possibility.<\/li>\n<li>PhC <a href=\"https:\/\/tat-lab.github.io\/people\/benabdallah\/\"><strong>Gabrielle Banabdallah<\/strong><\/a> (HCDE) organized the zine festival.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty and students from Cinema &amp; Media Studies, HCDE, DXARTS, Philosophy, the Information School, Bioethics &amp; Humanities, and more presented their work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Reverberations<\/em> was co-chaired by UW faculty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcde.washington.edu\/rosner\"><strong>Daniela Rosner<\/strong> <\/a>(HCDE\/DXARTS) and <a href=\"https:\/\/anthropology.washington.edu\/people\/jenna-grant\"><strong>Jenna Grant<\/strong><\/a> (Anthropology). T<a href=\"https:\/\/www.4sonline.org\/meeting_organizers_seattle.php\">he organizing team<\/a>, included <strong>Lisa Hoffman <\/strong>(Urban Studies, UW Tacoma),<strong> Ryan Burns<\/strong> (IAS, UW Bothell), <strong>Anissa Tanweer <\/strong>(eScience, UW Seattle), <strong>David Ribes<\/strong> (HCDE, UW Seattle), <strong>Wes King<\/strong> (Information School, UW Seattle), <strong>Kavita Dattani <\/strong>(GWSS, UW Seattle), <strong>Shannon Cram<\/strong> (IAS, UW Bothell).<\/p>\n<p>The University of Washington does not have a single disciplinary home for Science and Technology Studies (STS) scholarship; rather, scholars engaged in research and teaching on the cultural and social aspects of technoscience cross-cut the campuses\u2014from the STS undergraduate program at UW Bothell to the unfunded <a href=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/stsst\/\">STSS graduate certificate program<\/a>, directed by Leah Ceccarelli (Communication).<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/societytech\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/uw-social-uw-faculty.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2425\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Daniela Rosner, co-chair of 4S (center, in blue) with faculty and friends at the UW Social at 4S.
