DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) What are the ways we could identify stones in the common duct?

Visualization of common duct stones:



Ultrasound: see ductal dilatation but difficult to see the stones



CT scan: duct dilatation and level of obstruction seen but stone difficult to visualize



ERCP: stones seen as filling defects



Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram (PTC): possible only if intrahepatic radicles are dilated
